OGDEN, UTAH, Nov. 3, 2015—Trace Minerals Research (TMR), aleading provider of trace mineral based supplements for over 40 years, announces that it has been awarded a Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) Certificate of Conformance with an “A” rating, according to the National Brand Certification Program by UL Registrar LLC, a premier global independent safety science company for 120 years, who recently partnered with the Natural Products Association (NPA) to certify dietary supplement makers are following federal guidelines and regulations that are an essential part of the government’s oversight of the industry.

“We are very proud to announce our eleventh year of GMP certification, especially with the new partnership between UL and the NPA and the potential changes we were facing with the new certification program,” said Ryan Fisher, General Manager of TMR. “We are committed to the highest standards of quality and we know that our standard operating procedures need to keep up with the improvements and best-practices of an ever-changing industry. Having received an “A” rating after our first audit with UL lets us know that we are ahead of the curve when it comes to our quality standards.”

When the initial announcement of the NPA/UL partnership was made, NPA’s Executive Director and CEO, Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D. pointed out that the “new certification partnership will leverage UL’s rich history of quality and safety and NPA’s industry-first standard to transform the industry and bring it into a new world of best practices.”

One of the main changes to the certification program now that it’s being administered by UL is that manufacturing facilities are now audit annually rather than every two years. The UL Certification Program not only meets the current FDA rule [21 CFR 111] for GMP’s, but it exceeds the rule with other specific requirements as outlined by the Revised NPA’s cGMP Standard for Dietary Supplements. UL is the third-party auditor who conducts audits of supplier member manufacturing facilities. UL’s auditors are trained in the NPA GMP standard, as they will administer the certification program, the audit function and the final decision on whether the product meets the standard to achieve compliance.

According to the NPA’s website (, “the program ensures that all elements of the manufacturing process are reviewed to provide reasonable assurance that processes are sufficiently controlled so that products meet their established specification for quality, including identity, purity, strength and composition.”
