Dr. Chris Meletis N. D.
Biographical Sketch
Dr. Chris D. Meletis is a physician and educator whose life mission is to "Change the World's Health One Person at a Time." He has sought to fullfill his life's journey through becoming an educator of physicians, pharmacist, allied health care providers and the general public, while seeing patients himself.
Dr. Meletis is an internationally published author, with 16 books to his name and 3 pending publication. He has also contributed to an additional 7 books and dozens of national articles.
As a regular columnist for professional journals he
authors columns routinely for the physician and pharmacist community in
publications such as Natural Pharmacy and the Journal of Complementary and
Alternative Medicine. He has also had articles featured in such magazines as
Natural Health and Bottom Line Health.
Over the years he has sought to reach the public
through regular radio programs such as Back to the Beginning and The Golden
Radio Hour an OPB series. He has been the guest on countless radio programs
nationwide and throughout Canada, often reaching listening audiences of
upwards of a million listeners at a time. Dr. Meletis has also been featured
on several television programs focusing on natural medicine in the new
millennia.
As an educator Dr. Meletis lectures routinely to the
medical community for continuing education on various natural medicine
topics and how to safely use natural products. He also enjoys providing
talks to the public; one of his most recent presentations was as a panelist
discussing the use of integrated medicine to an audience of over 1200 women
in conjunction with the local medical school in Portland, Oregon.
He has also served and continues to provide leadership
as the Dean of Naturopathic Medicine and Chief Medical Officer at the
National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. NCNM is the
oldest naturopathic medical school in North America, and offers a 4-year
post-baccalaureate doctorate of naturopathic medicine degree. He has taught
and continues to teach courses focusing on nutrition, Nutraceutical and
natural pharmacology with an emphasis on using natural medicines as
supported by the medical and scientific literature. In his academic and
administrative role, Dr. Meletis helped create strategic alliances within
the Portland metropolitan area thus creating 12 community clinics for NCNM
physicians, students and residents to provide patient care to some 12,000
patient annually to low income and homeless that otherwise would go without
healthcare.
As a consultant to the healthcare industry, Dr. Meletis has served in numerous capacities, including product formulator, technical advisor, research director, vice president of medical affairs, and numerous other capacities. He believes that natural medicine in the new millennium must "blend the best of nature and science" and that individuals need to be provided safe and reliable knowledge to gain and sustain optimal wellness.
