TRACE MINERALS RESEARCH RESPONDS TO MISSTATED FINDINGS OF ALLEGED STUDY
OGDEN, UTAH, July 28, 2010In their latest attack against Trace Minerals Research, L.C. (TMR), Mineral Resources International (MRI), the disgruntled former owners of TMR, who sold the company to TMR in 1999, issued a press release yesterday in which they falsely claim that a "study confirms MRI as the only verified source of mineral supplements from the Great Salt Lake."
The draft preliminary working paper referred to by MRI in the press release states that mineral testing performed by an accredited laboratory verifies that TMR "sell[s] product that is sourced from the waters" of the Great Salt Lake that "can be considered homogeneous" with MRI's product.
MRI fails to disclose that the "working paper" referred to by MRI as an "academic study" is an unfinished preliminary draft that the author confirmed was not ready for publication and subject to revision. The paper was funded by a private party that the author refuses to identify. TMR believes that MRI prematurely published the paper at this time to preempt and disrupt TMR's announcement yesterday of a new harvesting facility on the shores of the Great Salt Lake.
This announcement puts to rest years of false accusations by MRI, questioning the minerals used by TMR in its products. TMR intentionally delayed announcement of the new facility until now to minimize MRI's ability to disrupt and oppose the new facility as MRI has done with other competitors who have attempted to harvest minerals from the Great Salt Lake.
While TMR would prefer to compete in the marketplace, a marketplace where consumers have made TMR the top-selling trace mineral brand in the United States, MRI continues to attack TMR through misleading press releases and frivolous legal actions. In every action where MRI has accused TMR of wrongdoing, the courts have ruled that MRI breached its agreements with TMR. Unable to succeed in court or in the marketplace, MRI is now resorting to misleading press releases. TMR will continue to vigorously defend against the misleading attacks of this desperate competitor.
