TMR RECEIVES INCI NAME ASSIGNMENT FOR CONCENTRACE
OGDEN, UTAH, July 31, 2013Trace Minerals Research (TMR), a leading provider of trace mineral based supplements for over 40 years, announces that ConcenTrace® Trace Mineral Drops has been reviewed by the International Nomenclature Committee and assigned an International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredient (INCI) name, which uniformly identifies the ingredient and instructs personal care manufacturers how to properly list it on labels.
“Receiving this INCI name for ConcenTrace® affords us the opportunity to sell into the cosmetic industry at a larger scale,” said James Crawford, Bulk Sales Manager for TMR. “Before now, well-known cosmetic companies couldn’t use ConcenTrace® in their products without an assigned INCI name due to regulations in the industry. Now we have the ability to partner with major cosmetic brands all around the world that are looking for a high quality sea mineral extract to use in their products. What’s even more exciting is that this is virtually a new market for us and we see a good deal of growth potential within this market channel.”
ConcenTrace® is a concentrated complex of over 72 ionic trace minerals that has been harvested from the pristine waters of Utah’s inland sea, the Great Salt Lake. Once the water is harvested, it goes through a proprietary concentration process called ConcenFlo®. During this process, it is constantly tested so it meets our Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) standards for quality and safety. ConcenTrace® is ionic, solar evaporated, GRAS-affirmed, food-grade, Kosher, Halal, and Non-GMO Project Verified. All required testing has been completed for ConcenTrace®, including certificates of analysis, flow charts, specification sheets and material safety data sheets. An INCI name is a name assigned by the International Nomenclature Committee (INC) to describe a cosmetic ingredient. Once a name is assigned to a particular ingredient, the name is then published in the International Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary and Handbook and the International Buyer's Guide as a reference for manufacturers of cosmetic and personal care products.
INCI names are recognized around the world to identify cosmetic ingredients and are referenced by regulation for product labeling in many countries. This assures scientists and formulators that information from scientific and other technical publications will be referenced by a uniform name and that multiple names for the same material will not lead to confusion, misidentification, or the loss of essential information.
A central ingredient database also helps to identify the composition of personal care products and ultimately helps the cosmetic industry track the safety and regulatory status of ingredients efficiently on a global basis, which enhances the industry’s ability to market safe products in compliance with various national regulations.
